The experts

In July 1998 Siôn Jenkins was convicted of murder on the evidence of a number of expert witnesses:

In July 2004 the original scientific evidence was shown to have such serious deficiencies that Siôn Jenkins’ conviction was deemed unsafe, and his second appeal succeeded.

By the end of the second retrial, when that evidence had twice again been robustly challenged by the defence, the prosecution was almost dismissing its significance, and urging the jury instead to ‘look at the whole picture’ – rather a vague basis for a verdict.
